What is your philosophy of Yoga?

Yoga is a practice which gives us the tools to live in our modern world. It is a philosophy, and does not conflict with any religious beliefs. In fact, it often enhances them. The word “yoga” is a word from the ancient language of Sanskrit which means “to yoke”. It is a way to join the physical body, the mental body and the spiritual body to allow wholeness in the individual. It is a transformative practice that strengthens, tones, stretches and heals us.

What kind of Yoga will I experience at the Be.Yoga?

Each Be.Yoga teacher has areas of interest and has spent a minimum of 5 years teaching Yoga. Most Be.Yoga teachers have been teaching 15-20 years +

How will I know what class is right for me?

There are posted descriptions of each class on the website (online here). If you have specific questions, please feel free to call or email Kristin, she will be happy to discuss the classes with you to find just the right fit. Telephone: 860-930-1311, or contact us by email: kristin@beyogainavon.com

What will I do in a yoga class?

Each yoga class will differ depending on the instructor and what she brings to the class from her personal training and experience. All classes will consist of postures (asana), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation (either guided or silent). Some classes will also incorporate hand mudras, inspirational teachings, poetry, chanting and other things the teacher decides to share.

What if I’m uncomfortable doing something the teacher is showing?

Don’t do it. Your yoga practice should be comfortable for you, and you need to honor yourself. The teacher should be able to give you a modification or you can rest in any pose you’d like until you are happy to join again .

How should I dress?

Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in, it need not be fancy! Barefoot is always best for yoga, but there are certain medical exceptions.

Should I eat before I come?

It’s best to come on an emptier stomach than not. A light snack is okay, but allow at least 2 hours after a heavy meal.

What should I bring with me?

Be.Yoga has everything you need, but most people prefer to bring their own mats. All our mats and props are non-toxic and environmentally-friendly.

What if I have an injury?

Be sure to share any information about injuries with your instructor. They will be able to offer suggestions to guide you safely through the class.

What if I’m not comfortable in a group setting right away?

Kristin Cork has been leading private sessions for stress, alignment and overall well being for over 20 years. Private sessions by appointment and encouraged in a package of 3 so you have time to customize, receive feedback and assimilate!
