My love of yoga developed over 10 years ago while facing life’s unpredictable challenges and health issues related to Lupus. Sitting in my very first yoga class, I experienced calm and quiet for the first time in a long time and my body received the movement with such ease. I knew I wanted to share this gift of yoga with others who wanted to gain some peace, mindfulness, healing and relief from chronic pain. I received my 200 hour and advanced 500 hour yoga teacher training from Sacred Rivers Yoga Studio in Glastonbury, CT. The program’s focus, “Yoga For Every Body,” emphasized integration of many types of yoga, anatomy and physiology as well as the mind, body, spirit connection to help students make yoga their own practice. Students will also hear me say that they need to practice with the body they have today and that you need to meet the pose not make the pose meet you. A focus of mine is to provide lots of modifications and alternatives so that all can benefit from this amazing practice. My classes blend a combination of breath led movements which relax the mind, quiet the body and integrate the spirit, and eclectic asana instruction which encourages students to listen to their own bodies. As a teacher of meditation and a Level 1 Medicinal Aromatherapist, I both blend these practices into yoga classes as well as work with individuals in private sessions for those interested in exploring more natural forms of healing. Outside of practicing yoga I am a Reading Teacher for young children, and enjoy reading, being out in nature and all kinds of creative activities. I live in West Hartford with my husband, daughter and 3 crazy cats. In the spirit of the word yoga, which means union, I am blessed to share in your journey.
