Lara Dotson-Renta is a writer and scholar, mother and partner, yogi and teacher. She specializes in Hatha and Vinyasa classes for adults in English and Spanish, as well as children's classes. She is trained in trauma-sensitive yoga through the Veteran's Yoga Project, and seeks to foster positive connections between the mind and body. Lara's practice encourages interconnectedness, openness, and the creation of physical and emotional space.


Originally from Puerto Rico, she holds a doctorate in Romance Languages and literatures, with a particular focus on immigrant communities. For Lara, her scholarly work brought to light the importance of balance, of engaging the body along with thought. Her interest in different languages and cultures keeps her traveling and writing as often as possible.


Lara completed her RYT 200Hr training at Breathing Room Yoga in New Haven, as well as a Children's Yoga training through Full of Joy Yoga (New Haven). Lara is CPR certified. Her personal yoga website is:
